Shelia Meeks was formerly my father's (Frank Rutter) secretary for a great many years. He always noted that when he bought her business, Melodaire in 1961, he bought it because he wanted her to work for him at The Horseshoe Coach Group. In some ways they complemented each other, as my father used to be very patient and maybe ever so hesitant whereas Shelia was more direct and to the point. Although she still lived in the flat above Melodaire, her new place of work was Lee's Luxury Coaches Ltd at 36 High Street, High Barnet a couple of miles away. Lee's was also a travel agency, but most of her time was that of looking after the accounts of the three coach companies; Horseshoe - Modern Super - Lee's Luxury. It was above that agency she spent most of her working life till all the companies closed down, eventually 1996.
